Balanced Budget– America’s children must not be strapped to pay for the irresponsible spending of today. America must maintain a balanced budget through a fair tax structure, and responsible, spend-as-you-go government. The current budget can be balanced without cutting the social programs such as: welfare, food stamps, and social security, that help the less fortunate of our citizens. Taxes must be levied with the wealthy paying their equal share, while all spending, including war and emergency funds, must be budgeted.

“Let us proclaim to the American people we will balance the budget. And let us also proclaim, we will do it in a way that preserves Medicare, Medicaid, education, the environment, the integrity of our pensions, the strength of our people. I want to balance the budget with real cuts in government, in waste. I want a plan that invests in education, as mine does, in technology, and, yes, in research.”
-William J. Clinton, 8/29/96
